Rob Horvath was born February 22, 1967 in London, Ontario, Canada.  After going through the typical boyhood dreams of having a career in professional sports (in his case, basketball), his interest in music was awakened during an extended visit to his grandparents' house at the age of nine. At almost every bedtime, his grandmother would play a Beethoven sonata, or something similar that would captivate him. He found a beginner book stored in the piano bench and began teaching himself. Soon after, he began taking piano lessons and continued lessons up to the end of high school, successfully completing Grade 9 (Royal Conservatory of Ontario).

During his early high school years, he heard a friend's record of Michael W. Smith's first album, "Michael W. Smith Project." and immediately became interested in synthesizers. He then saved up to purchase his first synthesizer, a Yamaha DX7. Soon, he was writing original music, or arranging someone else's music, and recording on a 4-track cassette recorder.

During a semester at a Bible college in New Zealand (where he met his future wife, Janine), he found out he was accepted to the Music Industry Arts program at Fanshawe College in London, Ontario. He returned to Canada and completed his diploma in Recorded Music Production in 1989. He received two awards, one for " Best Production" and one for "Best Arrangement," and he was also nominated for the "Best Song" award.

Over the years, he has continued to compose in various styles, primarily focussing on the compositions for his CD, "Creation," and regularly plays keyboards on his church's worship team in Cambridge, Ontario. He recently has written music cues for a TV show ("ER Vets," on CMT).

He and Janine have been married since 1989 and have six children (five boys, one girl).
